Methods:

  • Read the Woodworking/Construction units in the text book(s) you are using.
  • Go to a local lumber yard and gather a selection of wood samples (bother lumber and manufactured products) to use as props while teaching this unit.   Get a selection of common fasteners used for woodworking.
  • Collect sample projects to use as examples.
  • Be sure you are comfortable performing any of the skills you will be demonstrating to your class.  IMPORTANT:  Many woodworking power tools can be dangerous if not properly setup and used.
  • Use your shop, surrounding buildings, and wood products to view different aspects of woodworking.
