TOPIC PRESENTATION: OTHER PROPAGATION METHODS

A. Besides cuttings, budding, and grafting plants can also be vegetatively 
   propagated by :

   1. Layering

   2. Division

   3. Separation

   4. Tissue culture

B. LAYERING: This uses natures own method of causing roots to grow at a 
   node while the stem is still attached to the mother plant

   1. Types of layering include - tip, simple, compound, air, mound and
      trench.

   2. Grape layering to replace a vine or strawberries' natural runners 
       are examples of layering.

C. SEPARATION is simply removing corms or bulbets from the parent bulb
   plant. (An example would be an iris.)

D. DIVISION involves the removal of new shoots with some root from the 
   mother plant. (This is used on dahlias, orchids, Agapanthus).

E. TISSUE CULTURE is the development of new plants from very small pieces
   of the plant.
