List and discuss five factors to consider when selecting quality shrubs and trees. 2. Evaluate in groups of four, trees, shrubs, flats, and potted plants (of a single variety in each set), judge them in order of most desirable, and defend the reasoning behind the placement. 3. Demonstrate proper planting techniques for five different landscape plants. 4. Determine spacing and depth of planting for various ornamental trees and shrubs. 5. Demonstrate how to stake and tie ornamentals. 6. Discuss three ways to protect plants from the frost or freezing. 7. Discuss the benefits of drought-tolerant plants in the landscape (xeriscape). 8.
