UNIT GOAL:  Students will demonstrate a basic knowledge of techniques of 
            soil tillage, land, preparation and conservation.

UNIT OBJECTIVES:  Upon completion of this unit, the students will be able 
                  to:

1.  List and discuss four advantages of cultivation.

2.  Identify four methods of land preparation and seeding.

3.  List four objectives of tillage operations necessary for good crop 
    production.

4.  Explain the order and purpose of each tillage operation necessary to 
    prepare a good seedbed.

5.  Explain the effect of depth of planting on seed.

6.  Explain the advantages and disadvantages of incorporating crop residues 
    or green manures into the soil.

7.  Explain how roots interact with soil.

8.  Identify four types of soil water erosion and describe four conservation 
    practices which are used to minimize each.

9.  Discuss affects of wind erosion and list management procedures used to 
    control it.
