Smart Controllers are irrigation controllers that use some sort of climate data to modify the controller schedule. 

Methods fall into three categories:

Research indicates that these technologies can save 40%-60% when compared to standard control methods.   Note that for maximum water savings irrigation systems need to be efficient and unoform and the controller needs to be set correctly.
